Le Bandit: the short verdict
Le Bandit is one of the better-documented slots in our catalogue: Hacksaw publishes the RTP, a 3 out of 5 volatility rating, the 10,000x max win and every buy price. Super Cascades and Golden Squares give the base game real movement, and the three bonuses step up clearly from one to the next. Check which RTP version your casino runs, because the gap between the best and worst is wide. Start in the demo, then keep stakes modest.

Le Bandit free play is the quickest way to understand why this Hacksaw Gaming slot gets talked about. The grid is 6 reels by 5 rows, wins come from clusters of five or more matching symbols, and every winning position leaves behind a Golden Square that a Rainbow symbol can later turn into coins, multipliers or a collecting Pot of Gold.
In this Le Bandit slot review we walk through each of those pieces, the three free spins bonuses, the buy options priced in C$, and what the 96.34% RTP and 10,000x max win mean for an ordinary stake. All figures come from Hacksaw's own game page and its demo. Slots are entertainment with a house edge: play 19+ (18+ in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec).
Le Bandit free play: what the demo lets you test
The demo on this page is Hacksaw's play-money build, loaded with a C$ balance. It uses the same rules and paytable as the real-money game, but nothing you win can be cashed out, which makes it the right place to learn the mechanics before a deposit. Searching for the Le Bandit slot free usually leads to exactly this kind of build.
Worth trying in the demo:
- watch how Super Cascades clear a win and every matching symbol with it;
- count how Golden Squares build up on the grid as wins land;
- see what a Rainbow reveals when it activates those squares;
- open the buy menu to compare the feature prices against your stake.
The demo's bet selector runs from C$0.10 to C$2,000 per spin, and feature buys can cost more than that. Real-money casinos may offer a narrower range or switch some buy options off, so treat the demo menu as the provider's full set rather than a promise of what your casino shows.
How the Le Bandit slot game pays: clusters and Super Cascades
There are no paylines. A win needs at least five matching symbols touching each other on the 6x5 grid, and the payout grows with the size of the cluster. The wild substitutes for all paying symbols. The table converts the provider's paytable into C$ at a C$1 stake.
| Cluster size | Top hat | Beer mug or baguettes | Silver tool or cheese | 10, J, Q, K, A |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | C$1 | C$0.50 | C$0.30 | C$0.10 |
| 6 | C$1.50 | C$0.70 | C$0.40 | C$0.20 |
| 7 | C$2 | C$1 | C$0.50 | C$0.30 |
| 8 | C$3 | C$1.50 | C$0.70 | C$0.50 |
| 9-10 | C$10 | C$5 | C$2.50 | C$1.50 |
| 11-12 | C$30 | C$15 | C$7.50 | C$5 |
| 13+ | C$100 | C$50 | C$25 | C$15 |
Notice the jump between 8 and 9 symbols: a cluster of nine or ten top hats pays more than three times as much as one of eight. Small clusters return a fraction of the stake; the real money in the base game sits in the larger groups.
Why Super Cascades matter
In an ordinary cascade, only the winning symbols disappear. Le Bandit's Super Cascades go further: the winning symbols and every other matching symbol on the grid are removed before new ones drop in. That clears more space per win, so each refill has more fresh positions to fill and more room to form a new cluster. A single spin can chain several wins this way.
Golden Squares and the Rainbow
Every position that takes part in a win turns into a Golden Square. The squares wait for a Rainbow symbol, which activates them and reveals what each one holds:
- Bronze, Silver and Gold coins worth between 0.2x and 500x the stake - between C$0.20 and C$500 on a C$1 spin.
- Four-Leaf Clovers that multiply the coins next to them by x2 to x10.
- Pots of Gold that collect values; the in-game rules show exactly which.
This is what gives the slot Le Bandit its character. A spin full of cascades is doing two jobs: paying the clusters and painting more of the grid gold. The more squares are in place when a Rainbow lands, the more coins, clovers and pots can appear at once. A clover's multiplier applies to each neighbouring coin, so where it lands matters as much as what it shows.
The three Le Bandit bonus rounds
Free spins scatters unlock three different bonuses, and each one is built around how long the Golden Squares stay on the grid.
| Bonus | Trigger | Free spins | What changes | Can you buy it? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luck of the Bandit | 3 scatters | As stated in the game | Golden Squares stay until a Rainbow activates them | Yes, 100x |
| All That Glitters Is Gold | 4 scatters | 12 | Golden Squares stay for the whole bonus | Yes, 250x |
| Treasure at the End of the Rainbow | 5 scatters | 12 | A Rainbow lands on every spin | No |
The progression is easy to follow. In Luck of the Bandit, squares survive between spins until a Rainbow cashes them in. All That Glitters Is Gold keeps them for all 12 spins, so the gold area can only grow. Treasure at the End of the Rainbow removes the waiting entirely, with a Rainbow on every one of its 12 spins. Because that top bonus cannot be bought, the only way in is five scatters on a normal or FeatureSpins round.
Bonus buys and FeatureSpins in C$
Hacksaw offers four ways to pay for a shortcut. Two are one-off bonus buys; the other two are FeatureSpins, where every spin costs a multiple of your stake. BonusHunt FeatureSpins give five times the usual chance of triggering a bonus.
| Option | Price | At C$0.50 stake | At C$1 stake | Provider RTP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BonusHunt FeatureSpins | 3x per spin | C$1.50 | C$3 | 96.28% |
| Rainbow FeatureSpins | 50x per spin | C$25 | C$50 | 96.36% |
| Luck of the Bandit | 100x | C$50 | C$100 | 96.3% |
| All That Glitters Is Gold | 250x | C$125 | C$250 | 96.4% |
The buy RTPs sit within a fraction of a point of the base game's 96.34%. In plain terms, buying does not hand you a better deal; it trades many small spins for one large, faster, much swingier bet. A C$250 buy at a C$1 stake is the same money as 250 base spins, decided in one bonus. Not every casino build offers these buttons, so check the menu at yours.

Le Bandit max win, RTP and volatility
Hacksaw caps wins at 10,000x the stake. Here is what that means in C$:
| Stake per spin | Maximum win |
|---|---|
| C$0.10 | C$1,000 |
| C$0.50 | C$5,000 |
| C$1 | C$10,000 |
| C$5 | C$50,000 |
The max win is a ceiling, not a target; the vast majority of spins and bonuses end far below it. Volatility is rated 3 out of 5 on Hacksaw's own scale, the middle of its range: livelier than a gentle low-volatility game, calmer than the studio's 5 out of 5 titles.
Four RTP versions
Hacksaw lists the default RTP as 96.34%, with alternative versions at 94.23%, 92.17% and 88.36%. The casino chooses which one to run. Expressed as the theoretical house edge per C$100 wagered:
- 96.34% version: C$3.66
- 94.23% version: C$5.77
- 92.17% version: C$7.83
- 88.36% version: C$11.64
The game looks identical in every version, so the only way to know is to open the rules at your casino and read the stated figure. See our RTP and volatility page for why these averages only show up over very long play.
Stake sizing and session tips for Le Bandit
No approach changes the RTP, and no pattern of bets makes a Rainbow more likely. What you can shape is how long your budget lasts and how much one bad run costs you. A mid-range volatility of 3 out of 5 suggests a stake of roughly 1% of your session budget is enough to see a fair share of cascades and the occasional bonus without the session ending in a handful of spins.
- Size the base stake first. With a C$100 budget, C$1 per spin gives about 100 spins before wins are counted; C$0.50 gives about 200.
- Price buys against the budget, not the stake. A 100x Luck of the Bandit buy at C$1 is the whole C$100 budget in one bonus. If you want to buy, lower the stake so a single buy is a small share of the session.
- Treat FeatureSpins as a stake multiplier. BonusHunt at 3x turns a C$0.50 spin into C$1.50, so the same budget covers a third as many spins.
- Set limits before the first spin. Use the deposit limit and time-out tools in your casino account, and stop when you reach either one.
Le Bandit suits players who like a busy grid and a steady stream of small events, and who are comfortable with a mid-volatility ride. If you want the wildest swings Hacksaw makes, its higher-rated titles are a better match; if you want calm, low-variance play, this is not it.
Where to play Le Bandit in Canada
Ontario players can choose among private casinos registered with the AGCO and operating through iGaming Ontario. Alberta has run a regulated market of AGLC-registered operators since 13 July 2026. In the rest of the country, the regulated route is a provincially run site, and game libraries differ from one province to another. You need to be 19, or 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. Details for each province are in our Canada guide.
When you compare Le Bandit online casinos, check:
- that the casino is regulated where you live;
- which of the four RTP versions it runs, from the in-game rules;
- whether the buy and FeatureSpins options are switched on, if you plan to use them;
- that you are opening Le Bandit and not Le Bandit Hold & Win, a separate game with different rules.
Le Bandit vs Le Pharaoh and other Hacksaw slots
Hacksaw has built a series of "Le" titles, including Le Pharaoh, Le King, Le Viking and Le Zeus. Le Pharaoh is the one in our catalogue, and it is the closest relative: it also uses Golden Squares and Rainbow coins, but it pays on 19 paylines instead of clusters and uses Sticky Re-drops instead of Super Cascades.
| Game | Grid | How it pays | Volatility | RTP | Max win |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Le Bandit | 6x5 | Clusters of 5+ | 3 / 5 | 96.34% | 10,000x |
| Le Pharaoh | 6x5 | 19 paylines | 3 / 5 | 96.21% | 15,000x |
| Wanted Dead or a Wild | 5x5 | 15 paylines | 4 / 5 | 96.38% | 12,500x |
| Chaos Crew | 5x5 | 15 paylines | 5 / 5 | 96.30% | 10,000x |
The Le Bandit slot max win of 10,000x matches Chaos Crew and sits below Le Pharaoh's 15,000x and the 12,500x of Wanted Dead or a Wild. Pick Le Bandit if you like clusters and a mid-range ride. Move to Wanted Dead or a Wild or Chaos Crew if you want Hacksaw's rougher edges. For other cluster-pays grids, try Sugar Rush or Reactoonz.

What works and what does not
Pros
- Fully published maths: 96.34% RTP, 3 out of 5 volatility and a 10,000x max win
- Super Cascades clear every matching symbol, so wins can chain within one spin
- Golden Squares and Rainbows add a second layer of value to every cluster win
- Three bonuses that step up clearly, plus buy options priced from 3x to 250x
- Buy RTPs (96.28% to 96.4%) stay close to the base game's 96.34%
Cons
- Casinos can run lower RTP versions, down to 88.36%
- Small clusters pay well below the stake, so long dry runs are possible
- The top bonus, Treasure at the End of the Rainbow, cannot be bought
- Buy and FeatureSpins options may be switched off at some casinos
How the feature works
Clusters of 5+ matching symbols win on a 6x5 grid, and Super Cascades remove every matching symbol before refilling. Winning positions become Golden Squares; a Rainbow activates them into coins (0.2x-500x), clovers (x2-x10 to neighbours) and Pots of Gold. Three scatters start Luck of the Bandit (squares stay until a Rainbow), four start All That Glitters Is Gold (12 spins, squares stay all bonus), five start Treasure at the End of the Rainbow (12 spins, Rainbow every spin).
