Sugar Rush: the short verdict
Sugar Rush is the cleanest version of Pragmatic Play's multiplier-spot idea: a 7x7 cluster grid, spots that double up to x128 and free spins that keep every marked spot until the round ends. The provider publishes a 96.50% RTP and rates it High volatility, so most spins are quiet and the real value sits in a long free spins round. Try the demo first; play for real only with money you can afford to lose.

The Sugar Rush slot demo lets you play Pragmatic Play's 7x7 candy slot with play money before any real stake. It launched in June 2022, pays on clusters of five or more touching symbols and builds multipliers on the grid itself: every spot where a win explodes gets marked, and the next win on that spot starts a x2 that doubles each time, up to x128.
This page explains how a spin plays out, what the free spins round adds, what the 96.50% RTP and High volatility mean for a Canadian bankroll, and how the original compares with Sugar Rush 1000 and Sugar Rush Super Scatter. Everything below comes from the provider's own rules and paytable. Treat every session as paid entertainment, because the house edge is built in.
How the Sugar Rush slot machine pays on a 7x7 grid
The Sugar Rush slot machine has no paylines and no reels in the classic sense. It drops 49 symbols into a 7x7 grid, and a win needs five or more identical symbols connected horizontally or vertically. Diagonal touches do not count, which is worth knowing before you read the screen: a chain that snakes left, down and right still pays, while two groups that only meet at a corner are separate.
The tumble keeps one paid spin going
When a cluster pays, its symbols disappear and new ones fall into the gaps. If the refill creates another cluster, that pays too, and the process repeats until a refill produces no new win. One paid spin can therefore contain several wins in a row, each one adding to the total for that spin.
Cluster size drives the pay. The paytable starts at five symbols and climbs in steps up to clusters of 15 or more, where the value jumps sharply. The pink lollipop, the top symbol, pays 1x your total bet for five, 5x for ten and 150x for fifteen or more. The orange gummy bear, the smallest, pays 0.2x for five and 20x for fifteen or more.
- Seven paying candy symbols, from the lollipop down to three gummy bears
- One scatter, the gumball machine, which pays nothing itself but triggers free spins
- No wild symbol in the provider's symbol list
- No ante bet option: you pick a stake and spin
Multiplier spots: the feature that makes the game
The multiplier spots are why people search for this title. Each position on the grid can hold a mark. When a winning symbol explodes on an empty spot, that spot is marked. When another winning symbol explodes there later, the spot gets a x2 multiplier. Every further explosion on the same spot doubles it again, up to a cap of x128.
| Explosions on one spot | What the spot shows |
|---|---|
| 1st | Marked, no multiplier yet |
| 2nd | x2 |
| 3rd | x4 |
| 4th | x8 |
| 5th | x16 |
| 6th | x32 |
| 7th | x64 |
| 8th and later | x128 (the cap) |
How several spots combine
If a cluster covers more than one multiplier spot, the multipliers are added together, not multiplied. A cluster sitting on an x8 spot and an x4 spot gets x12 applied to its win. That rule keeps the numbers readable, and it also explains why a single large cluster across a busy corner of the grid matters more than many small hits scattered around.
In the base game the marks build only during one tumble sequence and clear when the spin ends. That is the key difference from the bonus round, where marks and multipliers survive from one free spin to the next.
Sugar Rush free spins: trigger, spin counts and retriggers
Sugar Rush free spins start when three or more gumball machine scatters land anywhere on the grid in one spin. The number of scatters sets the length of the round.
| Scatters | Free spins |
|---|---|
| 3 | 10 |
| 4 | 12 |
| 5 | 15 |
| 6 | 20 |
| 7 | 30 |
Inside the round, every marked spot and every multiplier stays in place for the whole bonus. A spot that reaches x16 on the third free spin is still x16 on the eighth. Landing the same scatter counts during the round awards the same numbers of extra spins, so the grid keeps building for longer.
Why a sugar rush free spin round swings so much
Each sugar rush free spin adds to a grid that already carries marks from earlier spins. A round where clusters keep landing in the same area can push several spots towards x128, and those values add up when one cluster covers them. A round where wins land in different places each time spreads the marks thinly and can finish with a small total. Both outcomes are normal for a High volatility game, and the demo shows both quickly enough.
Buying the bonus for 100x
The provider lists a Buy Free Spins option at 100x your bet. Paying it sends you straight to a trigger spin where three to seven scatters land at random, so the round length still varies from 10 to 30 spins. The RTP for the buy route is listed at the same 96.50%.
- At a C$0.20 stake the buy costs C$20
- At a C$1 stake it costs C$100
- At a C$2 stake it costs C$200
The buy does not improve your odds; it only skips the wait. It also concentrates the risk: one purchase can return less than its cost, and several in a row can drain a session budget that would have covered hundreds of normal spins. Whether a casino shows the buy at all depends on the game build and the market it is licensed for. The provider's own demo hides it in some jurisdictions, so check the game's menu before you plan around it.
RTP, volatility and the Sugar Rush max win in C$
The provider publishes an RTP of 96.50%. RTP (return to player) is a long-run average across millions of spins: on paper, C$100 wagered returns C$96.50 and the house keeps C$3.50. It says nothing about one evening. An operator is free to install a lower-RTP version of the same title, so the percentage in the game's rules screen is the figure that applies to you.
Sugar Rush game casino versions and the RTP you actually get
Because the RTP setting sits with the operator, two Sugar Rush game casino versions can look identical and still return differently over time. The demo on this page shows the provider's published configuration. Our RTP and volatility guide explains how to find the number inside any slot.
What the 5,000x cap means at each stake
The Sugar Rush max win is 5,000x your stake. The table is plain arithmetic on that cap; reaching it is rare, as on any High volatility slot.
| Stake per spin | Maximum win |
|---|---|
| C$0.20 (minimum) | C$1,000 |
| C$1 | C$5,000 |
| C$2 | C$10,000 |
| C$10 | C$50,000 |
| C$240 (maximum) | C$1,200,000 |
High volatility means the game pays less often but in bigger lumps, and much of its RTP is stored in the free spins round. Expect long runs of small or empty spins between bonuses.

Sugar Rush slot demo versus real money
The Sugar Rush slot demo on this page is the provider's own build, loaded with a C$ play-money balance. The maths is the same as the real-money game at the published settings: the same grid, the same multiplier spots, the same scatter counts. Only the money is pretend, so no win can be withdrawn and no loss costs you anything.
Sugar Rush free play is the right place to learn three things:
- How often clusters land at your chosen stake, so you can judge how long a real budget would last
- How the marks build across a tumble, and how quickly they clear when a spin ends
- How different free spins rounds feel, from short ones that fizzle to long ones that build
What the demo cannot show is how you will feel with real money on the line. A demo balance refills with a reload; a real one does not. If you move to real play, set the stake you tested in the demo, not a bigger one.
Sugar Rush slot Canada guide: where and how to play legally
Gambling in Canada is regulated province by province. Ontario runs an open, regulated market through iGaming Ontario, where AGCO-registered private operators can offer Pragmatic Play titles. Alberta opened a regulated market on 13 July 2026, with operators registered with AGLC. In the other provinces a provincially run site is the regulated online casino; sites licensed outside Canada also accept players there, but no province licenses them. Our playing in Canada guide covers the differences.
- Minimum age is 19, or 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec
- Check that a site holds a licence valid for your province before depositing
- Look for the RTP in the game menu, since operators can choose a lower build
- Use the deposit and time limits that regulated sites offer
The game runs in a mobile browser as well as on a desktop, so there is nothing to install. On a phone, the same stake controls, paytable and buy menu sit in the game's own interface, and the rules screen there shows the RTP the casino has chosen.
Stake sizing and session limits for a High volatility grid
No betting pattern changes the RTP or the chance of the next scatter. Your levers are the size of each spin, the length of the session and the point at which you walk away. A grid slot with a 5,000x cap and a bonus-heavy return needs more patience than a low volatility game.
- Size the stake so your session budget covers at least a few hundred spins; a long dry run between free spins is normal
- Decide a loss limit and a win target before you start, and stop at either
- Treat the 100x buy as a separate, expensive bet, not as a shortcut to profit
- Ignore the idea that a slot is due a bonus; every spin is independent
If you prefer smaller, steadier wins, Sugar Rush is probably not your game. Compare it with Sweet Bonanza, which the provider rates Low volatility.
Who this grid slot suits, and who should skip it
Sugar Rush fits players who enjoy watching a feature build over several spins rather than waiting for one lucky line. The persistent spots give each free spin a reason to matter, and the board tells you at a glance where the value is sitting. It also suits anyone who wants to understand the multiplier-spot design before trying the higher-cap sequels, because the x128 cap and the single buy price keep the maths easy to follow.
It suits players less well if they want frequent small returns, a jackpot, or a base game that carries most of the action. With marks resetting after every paid spin outside the bonus, the base game is mostly the road to the scatters.
Sugar Rush, Sugar Rush 1000 and Super Scatter compared
The Sugar Rush series in our slot catalogue shares the grid, the cluster rule and the scatter table. What changes is the multiplier cap, the max win and the extras.
| Game | RTP (published) | Spot cap | Max win | Buy options |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sugar Rush | 96.50% | x128 | 5,000x | 100x |
| Sugar Rush 1000 | 96.53% | x1,024 | 25,000x | 100x / 500x |
| Sugar Rush Super Scatter | 96.58% | x1,024 | 50,000x | 100x / 500x |
The original is the simplest of the three: one buy price, no ante bet, a lower ceiling and a lower cap on each spot. That makes it the easiest to understand and the best one to learn the mechanic on. The two newer titles stretch the same idea further, with much higher caps and a second, 500x Super Free Spins buy; Super Scatter also adds ante and Super Spin bet modes. If the multiplier-on-the-grid idea appeals but you want a different theme, Fortune of Olympus also pays clusters on a 7x7 grid.

What works and what does not
Pros
- Multiplier spots persist through the whole free spins round, so the grid can build for 10 to 30 spins
- Simple rules: one bet, no ante mode, one 100x buy price
- Published 96.50% RTP, the same for the buy route
- Runs in a mobile browser on iPhone and Android, no download needed
- Free demo in C$ play money to learn the spot mechanic first
Cons
- High volatility: long runs of small or empty spins between bonuses
- 5,000x cap is a fraction of the 25,000x and 50,000x on the newer series titles
- Base game marks reset every spin, so most of the value sits in the bonus
- The bonus buy may be hidden at some casinos and in some markets
How the feature works
Free spins start with 3 to 7 gumball machine scatters, awarding 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 spins. During the round, every grid spot where a winning symbol explodes is marked; the next explosion there adds a x2 multiplier, which doubles with each further hit up to x128. Marks and multipliers stay until the round ends, and several spots under one cluster add together. The same scatter counts retrigger. Buy Free Spins costs 100x and lands 3 to 7 scatters at random.
