Sugar Rush 1000: the short verdict
Sugar Rush 1000 keeps the original's sticky spot multipliers and lifts their ceiling from x128 to x1,024, which pushes the top prize to 25,000x the stake. The result is a sharper, swingier game: Pragmatic Play labels it high volatility, and most of its value sits in free spins, where marked spots stay put for the whole round. Pick it if you enjoy watching a grid build slowly and can fund long quiet stretches. Skip it if you want steady small wins.

The Sugar Rush 1000 slot is Pragmatic Play's March 2024 rework of its 2022 candy game: the same 7x7 grid and cluster pays, but with spot multipliers that keep doubling until they reach x1,024 instead of stopping at x128. Five or more matching sweets touching horizontally or vertically form a win, the cluster explodes, and fresh candy tumbles in from above. Every square where a symbol explodes gets marked, and the next win on that square starts a multiplier.
This Sugar Rush 1000 review walks through how those squares build, what the in-game RTP of 96.53% and the 25,000x max win mean in Canadian dollars, how the two bonus buys compare, and how to use the free demo before you risk real money. Every number on this page comes from the provider's own game rules, checked in October 2026.
How a Sugar Rush 1000 slot spin plays out
There are no reels or paylines here. The game drops 49 symbols into a seven-by-seven grid and looks for clusters: groups of at least five identical sweets joined by their sides. Diagonal contact does not count, so a zig-zag that only touches at the corners is not a win. Seven paying symbols share the grid with the gumball-machine scatter, and the ladder of pays runs from the orange gummy bear at the bottom to the pink lollipop at the top.
A single paid spin can contain several wins, because the tumble mechanic keeps the round going:
- The grid fills and every cluster of five or more pays according to its size.
- The winning symbols disappear and the squares they sat on are marked.
- The remaining candy drops down and new symbols fall in to fill the gaps.
- If the new grid forms another cluster, it pays, explodes and marks more squares.
- The sequence ends when a tumble produces no new win.
The marking in step two is the whole point of the game. A square that has been cleared once is primed, and if another winning symbol explodes on it the square becomes a multiplier. Long tumble chains are therefore worth more than the sum of their clusters, because each chain leaves behind a better-prepared grid for the next win.
Cluster size matters more than symbol choice
Small clusters pay modestly: five lollipops return 1x the total bet and five orange gummy bears 0.2x. The pay table climbs steeply once a cluster passes ten symbols, and fifteen or more lollipops pay 150x. In practice the big results come from medium clusters landing on squares that already carry large multipliers, not from one huge cluster on a clean grid.
Multiplier spots: how a square climbs to x1,024
The first explosion on a square only marks it. The second explosion there adds a x2 multiplier, and every later explosion on the same square doubles the value again. In the original Sugar Rush the doubling stops at x128; in this version it keeps going for three more steps.
| Explosions on one square | Square value | Possible in Sugar Rush (x128 cap)? |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Marked, no multiplier | Yes |
| 2 | x2 | Yes |
| 3 | x4 | Yes |
| 4 | x8 | Yes |
| 5 | x16 | Yes |
| 6 | x32 | Yes |
| 7 | x64 | Yes |
| 8 | x128 | Yes, this is the cap |
| 9 | x256 | No |
| 10 | x512 | No |
| 11 | x1,024 | No |
When one cluster covers several multiplier squares, the values are added together, not multiplied. A cluster sitting on a x8 square and a x16 square is paid at x24. That rule keeps the arithmetic sane, but it also means a cluster that touches two or three high squares late in a bonus can produce a figure many times bigger than anything the base game shows.
Why the extra three steps change the game
Reaching x1,024 on one square takes eleven explosions in the same place, which is rare by design. Most of the time the board looks much like the original. The difference shows up in the tail: the rounds where a cluster of squares has been hit over and over, usually deep into free spins, are the rounds that carry the 25,000x ceiling. That is where the higher volatility comes from.
Free spins and the Super Free Spins buy
The gumball machine is the scatter. It pays nothing on its own, but three or more anywhere on the grid start free spins:
- 3 scatters: 10 free spins
- 4 scatters: 12 free spins
- 5 scatters: 15 free spins
- 6 scatters: 20 free spins
- 7 scatters: 30 free spins
Landing the same scatter counts during the round awards the same number of extra spins. The defining rule is that marked squares and their multipliers stay on the board for the entire round. A square primed on the first free spin is still primed on the last, so the grid can only get stronger as the round goes on, and late spins tend to land on a board full of values.
The two buy options
Where the casino and jurisdiction allow it, you can skip the wait. Buy Free Spins costs 100x the bet and starts a standard round. Super Free Spins costs 500x and starts the round with a x2 multiplier already on every square, which is the same as beginning with all 49 squares hit twice. At a C$1 bet that is C$100 or C$500 per purchase.
The game rules list a slightly different return for each buy: 96.52% for Buy Free Spins and 96.44% for Super Free Spins. Neither buy improves the expected return over normal play; they swap a long, uncertain wait for a single large stake. A purchase can still end with a small total, and with high volatility that is a common outcome.
Sugar Rush 1000 RTP: 96.53% and why you may see other figures
Return to player, or RTP, is the share of all money staked that a game pays back over a very long run. The game rules inside the provider's demo give the Sugar Rush 1000 RTP as 96.53%. Pragmatic Play's product page shows 96.00%, so you may see either number quoted, and the build a casino installs decides which one applies to you.
The flip side of 96.53% is a house edge of 3.47%. In theory, C$1,000 of total spins returns about C$965.30 over an enormous sample. Nobody plays an enormous sample, so treat the figure as a property of the game's maths rather than a forecast for your evening. In a single session of a few hundred spins on a high-volatility slot, your result can land far above or far below that line.
How to check the version you are playing
- Open the game's information or rules screen at the casino before your first spin.
- Look for the line that states the theoretical return, usually near the bottom of the rules.
- Note the separate figures for the buy options if the casino offers them.
- If the screen shows a lower figure than 96.53%, you are on a lower RTP build; the rest of the game works the same.
Our RTP and volatility guide explains how these settings differ between casinos and why the same game can return different amounts depending on where you play it.
Sugar Rush 1000 max win in Canadian dollars
Sugar Rush 1000 caps a single round at 25,000x the stake. When a bonus round reaches that total, it ends and pays the capped amount. The table below is plain multiplication, using the C$0.20 minimum and C$240 maximum bet listed in the game.
| Stake per spin | Max win (25,000x) | Cost of Buy Free Spins (100x) | Cost of Super Free Spins (500x) |
|---|---|---|---|
| C$0.20 | C$5,000 | C$20 | C$100 |
| C$1 | C$25,000 | C$100 | C$500 |
| C$5 | C$125,000 | C$500 | C$2,500 |
| C$240 | C$6,000,000 | C$24,000 | C$120,000 |
That ceiling is five times higher than the 5,000x cap in the original game. It is also a ceiling, not a target. The provider does not publish how often the cap is reached, and the maths of a high-volatility game means it is an extreme outlier. Plan your session around the stakes in the left column, not the numbers in the second.

Sugar Rush 1000 free play: what the demo tells you
The demo on this page is the provider's own build, loaded with play money shown in C$. Sugar Rush 1000 free play uses the same grid, the same multiplier ladder and the same pay table as the real-money game, so it is a fair way to learn the rhythm before deciding whether the game suits you. If you just want to play Sugar Rush 1000 free for fun, the demo is all you need: there is no sign-up and nothing to deposit.
A demo can't tell you what will happen in your next real session, but it can show you how the game feels. Treat it as a Sugar Rush 1000 free slot session with a purpose. Useful things to watch:
- How often a tumble chain runs three or four steps deep, which is when squares start turning into multipliers.
- How many spins pass between free spins rounds in your own sample, and how much of the balance that costs.
- What a typical free spins round returns compared with the occasional strong one.
- How quickly the balance drops at the stake you plan to use for real.
One caveat: some regions hide the bonus buy in the provider's demo, so the buttons you see may differ from what a casino offers. The base game and free spins rules do not change.
Bankroll and stake sizing for a high-volatility grid
No staking pattern, time of day or spin count changes the RTP. Searches for a best strategy or a golden time to play this game lead nowhere: every spin is independent, and the result comes from a random number generator. What you can control is how long your money lasts and how much you are prepared to lose.
Because the game is rated high volatility, most of its return is concentrated in a few strong bonus rounds. That has practical consequences:
- Stake for the number of spins, not the dream win. A C$100 budget is 500 spins at C$0.20, 100 spins at C$1 and 20 spins at C$5. The deeper the budget, the more chances you have to reach a bonus at all.
- Treat a buy as a whole session. One Buy Free Spins at C$1 costs C$100. If that is your entire budget, the session can be over in one round.
- Set a stop point before you start. Decide on a loss limit and a time limit, and stop when you hit either one.
- Don't chase. Raising the stake after a dry run only increases the amount at risk; it does not make a bonus more likely.
Slots are paid entertainment with a built-in house edge. If a session stops being fun, end it, and if gambling is costing more than you planned, use the deposit and time limits licensed casinos offer.
Where to play Sugar Rush 1000 in Canada
Finding the game is mostly a matter of finding a casino that stocks Pragmatic Play. The harder question is where you can legally play Sugar Rush 1000 for real money, and that depends on your province.
- Ontario residents have an open, regulated market run through iGaming Ontario, with AGCO-registered operators.
- Alberta residents have had a regulated market since 13 July 2026, with operators registered with AGLC. Stick to operators on its registered list; they say so on their sites.
- The rest of the country has a government-run online casino in each province; internationally licensed sites also accept players, but no province licenses them. Look up who holds a site's licence before you sign up.
- Minimum age is 19 in most provinces; Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec set it at 18.
The RTP build, the bet range and the availability of the buy features are all set by the casino and its regulator, so the same game can look slightly different from one site to the next. Province-by-province detail is in our Canada guide.
Sugar Rush 1000 vs the rest of the Pragmatic Play candy family
Sugar Rush 1000 by Pragmatic Play sits between two siblings in our catalog. All three share the 7x7 grid, cluster pays, tumbles and marked squares; what changes is the multiplier ceiling and the extras around it.
| Game | Released | In-game RTP | Square multiplier cap | Max win | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sugar Rush | June 2022 | 96.50% | x128 | 5,000x | 100x buy |
| Sugar Rush 1000 | March 2024 | 96.53% | x1,024 | 25,000x | 100x and 500x buys |
| Sugar Rush Super Scatter | January 2026 | 96.58% | x1,024 | 50,000x | Super Scatters, ante bet, Super Spins, two buys |
The original is the gentlest of the three: the lower cap keeps the bonus rounds closer together in value. Super Scatter adds instant scatter prizes and extra bet modes on top of the 1000 maths. Sugar Rush 1000 is the clean middle option, with the higher ceiling but none of the extra modes.
If you like the idea of a multiplier ladder but prefer a different board, the other 1000 versions follow the same thinking: Gates of Olympus 1000 and Starlight Princess 1000 use random multiplier symbols instead of fixed squares, while Sweet Bonanza 1000 keeps the candy theme on a 6x5 scatter-pays grid. The full list is in our slot games catalog.

What works and what does not
Pros
- Square multipliers double all the way to x1,024, eight times the x128 cap of the original Sugar Rush
- Marked squares stay for the whole free spins round, so the board keeps getting stronger
- In-game RTP of 96.53%, and both bonus buys are listed above 96.4%
- Two buy routes: 100x for Free Spins or 500x for Super Free Spins with x2 on every square
- Free demo in C$ play money runs the same rules as the real-money game
Cons
- High volatility: long stretches of small or no wins are part of the design
- Pragmatic's product page shows 96.00%, so check which RTP build your casino runs
- Super Free Spins cost 500x the stake, which is C$500 at a C$1 bet
- No ante bet, so the only way to raise your bonus chances is to buy the round
How the feature works
Free spins start when 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 gumball-machine scatters land anywhere, awarding 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 spins; the same counts retrigger during the round. Each square where a winning symbol explodes is marked, and later explosions there add a x2 multiplier that doubles each time up to x1,024. Multipliers under one cluster are added together. In free spins, marks and multipliers stay for the whole round. Buying costs 100x, or 500x for Super Free Spins that start with x2 on every square.
