Money Train 3: the short verdict
Money Train 3 is a bonus-first slot. The base game is mostly there to deliver three Bonus symbols, and the Money Cart round is where special symbols collect, double and hand out values across a grid that can widen to seven columns. Persistent gold specials make long rounds snowball, which is how the game reaches its 100,000x cap. It is high volatility and the buys are expensive, so it suits players with a patient budget who enjoy a feature with real depth.

The Money Train 3 slot is Relax Gaming's September 2022 entry in its Money Train series, with a top prize capped at 100,000x the stake. The base game runs on five reels, four rows and 40 fixed paylines, but almost everything interesting happens in the Money Cart Bonus Round, a hold-and-respin feature where Bonus symbols carry cash values and special symbols act on them.
This Money Train 3 review explains how the round starts and resets, what each special symbol does, how the three RTP versions differ, what the four buy options cost in Canadian dollars and how to use the free demo to understand a feature that takes some learning. Facts come from Relax Gaming's product page and the game's own rules, checked in October 2026.
How the Money Train 3 slot works between bonuses
In the base game, regular symbols pay along 40 fixed lines on a 5x4 grid, and a Wild stands in for the other symbols to complete wins. The line values for each symbol are listed in the in-game paytable. Two things make the base game more than filler:
- Bonus symbols can land on any spin. Three or more start the Money Cart Bonus Round.
- The Respin Feature can start at random after a spin that didn't win. One symbol locks in place and the reels re-spin, with +1x, +2x and +3x multiplier symbols able to land and boost the result.
Expect the base game to be quiet for stretches. Relax Gaming rates the game high volatility, and the design puts most of the return into the bonus round, so many base spins exist mainly as chances to land the third Bonus symbol.
The Money Cart bonus round, step by step
The bonus is a hold-and-respin round. It plays out like this:
- The Bonus symbols that triggered the round stay on the grid, and you get 3 spins.
- Each regular Bonus symbol that lands shows a value from 1x to 10x the bet.
- Every time a new symbol lands, the spin counter goes back to 3.
- Special symbols act on the values already on the grid: collecting them, doubling them or paying them out to other symbols.
- Gold Persistent specials repeat their action at the end of every remaining spin.
- Filling a whole column opens a new column next to the grid, up to two extra columns.
- The round ends when the counter reaches zero, and the values on the grid are added up and paid.
A cap sits above all of this: if the total reaches 100,000x the bet, the round ends at once and pays that amount.
Why the reset rule matters
Because every new symbol restores three spins, a round can run far longer than its opening three. Each extra spin is another chance for a Collector or a Persistent special to act on a grid that keeps filling. That is where the big totals come from, and also why two rounds triggered the same way can end with wildly different results.
The special symbols explained
The characters on the Money Cart grid are what set this game apart. Each has a single job, and the Persistent versions repeat that job on every spin.
| Symbol | What it does |
|---|---|
| Collector | Collects every visible value and adds it to its own |
| Sniper | Doubles the values of 3 to 8 other Bonus symbols |
| Collector-Payer | Takes 3 to 5 targets, adds their values to its own, then pays the new total to each target |
| Necromancer | Revives 2 to 7 used non-persistent special symbols so they act again |
| Absorber | Absorbs all normal Bonus symbols and their values |
| Tommy Gun Sniper | Doubles one random symbol 2 to 6 times |
| Tommy Gun Payer | Reveals 5x to 100x and adds it to one random symbol 3 to 10 times |
| Persistent Collector, Sniper, Collector-Payer, Necromancer | Same action as the normal version, repeated after every spin |
| Persistent Shapeshifter | Turns into a different special after every spin |
How the pieces combine
The order matters. A Sniper doubling several values before a Collector sweeps them up is worth far more than the reverse, and a Collector-Payer copies a large total onto several symbols at once. The Necromancer is the wildcard: by reviving specials that have already fired, it lets the strongest actions happen twice. Persistent symbols are the engine of the big rounds, because a gold Collector or Sniper that lands early keeps working until the round ends.
Money Train 3 RTP: three versions to know about
The Money Train 3 Relax Gaming product page gives the RTP as 96.10%, which is a house edge of 3.90%. The same page lists two lower builds:
- 96.10%: the default version
- 94.00%: an alternative version casinos can choose
- 90.00%: the version for the German market
The difference is not trivial. Over a very long run, C$1,000 staked returns about C$961 on the default build and about C$940 on the 94% build. Nothing on the screen tells you which one you are playing except the rules page, so open the game info at your casino and find the theoretical return line before your first spin.
The game's demo configuration lists a 96.5% return for the bonus buys, a little higher than the base figure. That does not make buying a good deal for every budget, as the next section shows. Our RTP and volatility guide covers why casinos can run different builds of the same slot.

Max win and bonus buy prices in Canadian dollars
Among the slots in our catalog, only its sequel lists a higher cap than 100,000x. At C$0.10 a spin it is C$10,000; at C$1 it is C$100,000. Like every cap, it is the edge of the maths, not a likely outcome, and Relax Gaming gives no figure for how often a round gets there.
The buy feature is available in the base game only, where the casino and jurisdiction allow it, and offers four entry points:
| Buy option | Price | At a C$0.50 bet | At a C$1 bet |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Spin | 20x | C$10 | C$20 |
| 2 Spin | 50x | C$25 | C$50 |
| Original | 100x | C$50 | C$100 |
| Persistent | 500x | C$250 | C$500 |
The names are as they appear in the game rules, and the in-game buy menu explains what each option starts with before you confirm. Relax publishes stakes from EUR 0.10 to EUR 10, and Canadian casinos show their own C$ steps.
A practical rule: if one purchase is more than a fifth of your session budget, you are betting the session on a single round. High volatility means many bought rounds return less than their price.
Money Train 3 demo: learn the bonus with play money
The Money Train 3 demo on this page is Relax Gaming's own build, running with play money labelled FUN at stakes from 0.10 to 5.00. It uses the same rules as the real-money game, so the Money Train 3 slot demo is the best place to learn a feature that is hard to follow from a description alone.
Things worth doing with it:
- Watch a few bonus rounds closely and follow the order in which specials act.
- Note how much a round changes when a Persistent symbol lands early compared with late.
- If the demo shows the buy menu, use it to see many rounds in a short time; it costs play money only.
- Track how many base spins pass between natural triggers in your own sample, so you know what that feels like before staking C$.
A demo result says nothing about your next real session. It shows how the game behaves, not how it will treat you.
Where to play Money Train 3 in Canada
To play Money Train 3 for real money, pick a Money Train 3 casino that is licensed for your province:
- Ontario: the iGaming Ontario market is the regulated route; iGaming Ontario publishes the list of regulated sites.
- Alberta: a regulated market since 13 July 2026, open to operators registered with AGLC.
- Other provinces: the provincially run casino is the authorised option; privately run sites holding licences from other jurisdictions also accept players, but no province licenses them. Read the licence details first.
- Legal age: 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, 19 in the rest of the country.
As a Money Train 3 slot online, the game runs in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with no download. For the differences between provinces, see playing in Canada.
Budget for the volatility
Slots are paid entertainment and the house keeps an edge over time. With a game this swingy, work out how many spins your budget buys before you choose a stake: C$100 covers 1,000 spins at C$0.10 or 100 at C$1. Pick a spending cap and a session length up front, and leave when you reach either.
Money Train 3 vs Money Train 4 and other Relax Gaming slots
Money Train 3 from Relax Gaming has a direct successor in our list, Money Train 4, released a year later in September 2023. The two share the hold-and-respin bonus, the reset-to-three rule and Persistent specials, but differ in layout and ceiling.
- Base game: Money Train 3 uses 5x4 with 40 paylines; Money Train 4 uses 6x6 with scatter pays.
- Bonus grid growth: Money Train 3 opens up to two extra columns; Money Train 4 starts at 6x4 and can unlock up to four more rows.
- Max win: 100,000x against 150,000x.
- Buys: four options from 20x to 500x here, two options (100x and 500x) in Money Train 4.
- RTP: both list 96.10% as the default.
If you like the idea of cheaper, smaller buy steps, Money Train 3 is the more flexible of the two. If you want the bigger ceiling, the sequel has it. For another high-volatility Relax title with a very different mechanic, see Temple Tumble, and for collect-style cash symbols from a different studio, try Gold Blitz. Players drawn to high-risk, high-ceiling games can also compare Mental and Wanted Dead or a Wild in our slot games catalog.

What works and what does not
Pros
- A 100,000x ceiling: among the slots in our catalog, only Money Train 4 lists a higher one
- Deep bonus round: a long cast of special symbols interacts, so no two rounds play out alike
- Four buy prices from 20x to 500x let you choose how much to pay for a bonus
- Default RTP of 96.10%, with the buys listed at 96.5% in the demo configuration
- Random Respin Feature gives non-winning base spins a second chance
Cons
- High volatility: the base game can go quiet for long stretches between bonuses
- Casinos may run a 94% build, so check the rules screen before you play
- The Persistent buy costs 500x, which is C$500 at a C$1 bet
- Lots of symbols to learn; the bonus is hard to follow until you have watched it in the demo
How the feature works
Three or more Bonus symbols start the Money Cart Bonus Round with 3 spins, and every new symbol resets the count to 3. Bonus symbols show 1x to 10x the bet. Specials act on those values: Collectors gather them, Snipers double them, Collector-Payers share totals out, and the Necromancer revives used specials. Gold Persistent specials repeat their action after every spin. Filling a column opens a new one, up to two extra. The round pays the grid total when spins run out, or ends early at 100,000x.
