Spaceman: the short verdict
Spaceman is a clean, well-made crash game with one genuinely useful extra: the 50% auto cashout, which lets you bank half a bet early and let the rest fly. The trade-off is the maths. Pragmatic Play's page lists a 95% RTP, below most of the slots and instant games in our list, and the top multiplier is capped at 5,000x. Play it for the tension of the round, use the demo to set your exit points, and keep stakes small.

Spaceman slot is how many players search for this game, but Spaceman by Pragmatic Play has no reels, symbols or paylines. It is a crash game: a shared round in which a multiplier rises while the astronaut flies, and you need to cash out before he falls or the stake is lost.
Pragmatic's page for the game went up in March 2022. This page covers the rules round by round, the cash-out tools including the half-bet auto cashout, what the published 95% RTP and the 5,000x cap mean in Canadian dollars, how the demo behaves, and how the game compares with other crash titles in our catalogue.
Spaceman slot or crash game: what you are actually playing
Some casinos list Spaceman alongside slots, which explains the search term, but the mechanics have more in common with a countdown than a reel spin. Every player at the table bets on the same flight. The multiplier starts at the bottom of the payout range, 1.01x, and climbs while the astronaut rises. At a random point he falls, and every bet still in play at that moment is lost.
Your result depends on one thing you control and one you do not. You choose when to cash out. The game decides when the flight ends, using a random outcome generated for the whole round, so no player can influence it for another. Because the round is shared, you also see other players' bets and cash-outs appear in real time, which adds to the tension but has no effect on the result.
How a Spaceman round plays out
- Betting window. Before launch, place your stake. The demo table takes €1 to €100 per bet; real-money casinos set their own limits in their own currency.
- Launch. The astronaut takes off and the multiplier begins to climb from 1.01x.
- Cash out. Press cash out at any moment and your stake is paid at the current multiplier. An auto cashout can do this for you at a preset level.
- The fall. When the flight ends, any bet not yet cashed out is lost.
- Next round. The history bar records where the flight ended, and the next betting window opens.
The maximum payout is 5,000x the stake. In-game rules also cap a single bet's payout at €500,000, whichever limit is reached first. A double bet button simply doubles your current stake for the next round; it is a shortcut, not a feature that changes the odds.
Auto cashout and the 50% auto cashout explained
Spaceman has two automatic exits, and they are the most useful part of the interface because they take the decision away from reflexes.
Auto cashout
Set a multiplier and the whole bet is cashed out the moment the flight reaches it. If the astronaut falls first, the bet is lost as usual.
50% auto cashout
This cashes out half of your bet at a preset multiplier and leaves the other half in play. You then take the remainder manually, or with the regular auto cashout where the game lets you set both. The table shows how a C$10 stake could end with half cashed at 2x:
| What happens next | First half (C$5 at 2x) | Second half (C$5) | Total returned |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flight ends before 2x | C$0 | C$0 | C$0 |
| Second half cashed at 3x | C$10 | C$15 | C$25 |
| Second half cashed at 10x | C$10 | C$50 | C$60 |
| Flight ends after 2x, before your second cash-out | C$10 | C$0 | C$10 |
The split does not change the RTP. It changes the shape of your results: fewer total losses after the first level is passed, in exchange for a smaller top payout than letting the whole bet ride.
RTP, the 5,000x cap and what a flight is worth in C$
Pragmatic Play's page for Spaceman lists an RTP of 95%. You may see higher figures quoted elsewhere, but we only use the provider's number. A 95% RTP means that, across a very large number of rounds, about C$95 of every C$100 staked is paid back and C$5 is kept by the house. That edge is larger than on most of the slots in our catalogue, so a session of the same length will cost more on average. Casinos may also offer the game at a different setting, so read the rules panel. Our RTP explainer covers how this plays out over time.
Pragmatic does not publish a volatility rating for Spaceman. The spread of outcomes depends heavily on your own exit point: cashing out at low multipliers produces many small wins, while waiting for high ones produces many losses and occasional large wins.
| Stake | Cashed at 1.5x | Cashed at 10x | Cashed at 100x | 5,000x cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| C$1 | C$1.50 | C$10 | C$100 | C$5,000 |
| C$5 | C$7.50 | C$50 | C$500 | C$25,000 |
| C$20 | C$30 | C$200 | C$2,000 | C$100,000 |

Trying the Spaceman game in demo mode
The demo loads Pragmatic Play's own practice table. Two quirks are worth knowing. First, the balance and limits appear in euros even when the page asks for Canadian dollars, so the €1 to €100 bet range is the demo's, not a casino's. Second, the shared rounds keep running whether or not you bet, so you can watch several flights before placing anything.
Use that to practise the part that matters: setting an auto cashout and a 50% level, then sticking to them for a run of rounds. The demo uses play money but the same rules, so it shows how often a given exit point actually pays and how quickly a balance moves. It cannot show the RTP setting your casino uses or how you will feel when the stakes are real.
A simple exercise: pick one exit plan, for example half out at 2x and the rest taken at 5x, and keep it for fifty demo rounds. Then try a single auto cashout at 1.5x for the same number. Comparing the two balances shows, in your own numbers, how the split changes the rhythm of wins and losses, even though neither plan changes the house edge.
Bankroll habits for a fast crash game
Rounds in Spaceman are short and come one after another, which makes it easy to place far more bets than you would on a slot. Some habits that genuinely help:
- Fix your exit before the round. An auto cashout removes the temptation to wait one second longer.
- Ignore the history bar for prediction. Each flight is generated independently, so a run of early falls does not make a long flight "due".
- Keep the stake small relative to the session. A loss on every round is a normal stretch in a crash game.
- Avoid doubling after losses. The double bet button makes this easy, and it is the quickest way to empty a balance.
- Set a time limit. Rounds this short can run for an hour without notice.
Crash games are entertainment with a house edge. No exit point, pattern or predictor tool changes the long-run return.
Finding a Spaceman casino in Canada
Pragmatic Play's live and crash titles are not in every lobby, so check that the game is listed before signing up anywhere. In Ontario, regulated casinos run under iGaming Ontario with AGCO registration; in Alberta, operators must be registered with AGLC since that market opened on 13 July 2026. In other provinces, the province's own gambling site is the regulated option, and offshore casinos that accept Canadians operate outside provincial regulation.
A good Spaceman casino will show its licence, let you play in Canadian dollars, and make deposit limits and time-outs easy to set. Players need to be 19, or 18 if they live in Alberta, Manitoba or Quebec. Provincial rules are explained on our Canada page.
Spaceman game review: how it compares with other crash games
Our Spaceman game review comes down to this: the 50% auto cashout is a real advantage for careful players, but the published RTP is the lowest of the crash titles in our list.
| Game | Provider | Published RTP | Top multiplier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spaceman | Pragmatic Play | 95% | 5,000x |
| Big Bass Crash | Pragmatic Play | 95.50% | 5,000x |
| Aviator | Spribe | 97% | Not published |
| JetX | SmartSoft Gaming | 96.2% - 98.9% | 25,000x |
Big Bass Crash is its fishing-themed sibling with the same cash-out tools and a slightly higher RTP. Aviator and JetX publish higher returns. If you prefer a single-player pace where you choose every step, Mines is the alternative. Every title is listed in our crash games hub.
Who Spaceman suits
Spaceman suits players who enjoy a social, live-feeling round and want an easy way to soften risk without giving up the chance of a long flight. The half-bet exit makes it friendlier to cautious play than crash games with a single cash-out. It suits less well anyone choosing purely on return: at 95%, the same budget will last less long on average than on the higher-RTP crash and instant games, so it is worth comparing before you settle on one.

What works and what does not
Pros
- 50% auto cashout lets you lock in part of a bet and keep the rest in play
- Simple rules: one multiplier, one cash-out decision per round
- Auto cashout removes the need to react in real time
- Shared rounds and live bets make it easy to watch before you play
- Free demo shows the full interface and history
Cons
- 95% published RTP, a higher house edge than most games in our catalogue
- Payouts are capped at 5,000x per bet
- Fast rounds make it easy to place many bets in a short time
- The demo shows euro limits, not Canadian dollars
How the game works
There is no bonus round in Spaceman. Every shared round starts with a betting window; after launch the multiplier rises from 1.01x while the astronaut flies, and he falls at a random point. Cashing out pays the stake times the current multiplier; anything still in play when he falls is lost. Auto cashout exits at a preset level, and the 50% auto cashout banks half the bet there and lets the rest ride. Payouts are capped at 5,000x, or €500,000 per bet, whichever comes first.
